The modules are mandatory. Contemporary Global Business (10 ECTS) This module will provide you with an understanding of the key roles a manager plays in terms of planning, organising, leading and controlling the organisation. You'll be able apply tactics and strategies in learning to win in an international negotiation. By means of group case analysis you'll be able to apply key concepts within today’s organisation and their global environments. You will study: Fundamental management functions Managing the process of modern business negotiations Corporate social responsibility Ethics in business and sustainability Entrepreneurial activity in Ireland and Europe By looking at various organisations and how they are managed, you'll develop a broad overview of the concepts and exhibit a foundation in the analytical and practical skills necessary to effectively manage within organisations. Entrepreneurship (10 ECTS) This module introduces the foundations of entrepreneurship that are important to understanding the decisions entrepreneurs make, the environment in which they make those decisions and the tasks they must perform before launching a new venture. This course will involve a substantial amount of application of theory as part of the learning process. There will be lecture presentations on key concepts. You will cover: How to recognise opportunities Creativity and idea generation Feasibility and business plan Financing the enterprise Internationalisation Innovation growth strategies You will then apply the theory in a practical way, building up a portfolio of information relating to the course content through discussion, debate, self-directed learning, presentation and guest speakers. This also provides an opportunity for class discussion and peer learning.
